Upcoming Premier League Fixtures

The Premier League is entering one of its busiest periods with the festive fixtures right around the corner! With a game happening every 3 or 4 days during this time, every point is valuable. Let’s take a look at the fixtures taking place this weekend.

Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur currently sit in 5th position after an incredible start to their Premier League campaign. They did lead the table earlier on in the season, however after suffering injuries to key players, Spurs were unable to keep their tremendous form going. They were able to see off Newcastle United in a 4-1 victory in their last game and will be hoping for a similar result this weekend. Nottingham Forest are struggling for their own form this season. Currently sat in 16th position just 5 points ahead of the relegation zone. They picked up a point against Wolves last weekend and will be hoping to take more points this weekend.

Bournemouth v Luton Town

Bournemouth have been in fantastic form recently. After a heavy 6-1 defeat to Manchester City, they went on to win 4 of their last 5 games. They face a struggling Luton who have performed well against the top teams recently but find themselves in 18th place on just 9 points.

Chelsea v Sheffield United

Chelsea find themselves in 12th position in the League with 19 points. Their last win came against Brighton in a 3-2 victory but went on to lose their next two away fixtures against Manchester United and Everton. The Blues face bottom of the Premier League side Sheffield United who won their last game against Brentford and put in a decent performance against League leaders Liverpool.

Manchester City v Crystal Palace

Manchester City have had a tough time recently, dropping points against Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa and sit in 4th place, 4 points behind Liverpool. They face Crystal Palace who put in a good performance against Liverpool last weekend but currently sit in 15th place in the league on 16 points.

Newcastle v Fulham

Newcastle are another team who have had a difficult time of late. They dropped points to Tottenham and Everton and exited Europe after defeat to Milan in mid-week. They take on a Fulham side that have scored 10 goals in their last 2 games and are just 5 points behind Newcastle in 10th.

Burnley v Everton

Everton have won 3 games on the bounce against Newcastle, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest and have risen to 17th position after their 10-point deduction from the Premier League. The Toffees travel to Turf Moor to face a Burnley team in 19th place who will be fighting for every point to escape the dreaded relegation zone.

West Ham v Wolves

West Ham suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Fulham last weekend after some excellent results in the previous weeks which has led them to a 9th place position in the league. Wolves are further down in 13th position who drew to Nottingham Forest at home last time out. They will be looking to pick up points going into the busy period, to stop themselves being dragged towards the bottom of the table.

Brentford v Aston Villa

Villa have shown impressive form recently, beating Arsenal and Manchester City 1-0, causing them to rise to 3rd in the Premier League table. They face a Brentford side that have struggled for form with defeats to Sheffield United and Brighton. They currently sit in 11th position just two points behind 10th place Fulham.

Arsenal v Brighton

Arsenal are currently in 2nd position after defeat to Aston Villa allowed Liverpool to jump to the top spot. They will want to regain the impressive form they showed earlier in the season to keep the pressure on Liverpool going into the festive period. Brighton have struggled to find the good form they showed last season and currently find themselves in 8th position just 4 points off Tottenham in 5th.

Liverpool v Manchester United

It’s the big one! Liverpool are top of the Premier League and they welcome their biggest rivals Manchester United to Anfield. The Reds have won their last 3 and drew 1-1 with treble winners Manchester City at the Etihad in November. Manchester United dropped out of Europe during the week and have lost in their last 3 matches to Bournemouth, Chelsea and Newcastle. They will be without captain Bruno Fernandes but will be hoping they can regain some form at the home of their greatest rivals.
