Premier League Weekend Results
We’re nearly coming to the end of another Premier League season and some positions are confirmed with 3 games to go. Let’s take a look at all the Premier League Weekend Results and what that means for the table.
Leeds United 2 – 2 Newcastle United
Leeds are still fighting against relegation and a hard earned point against Newcastle has kept them in the hunt for safety. Luke Ayling opened the scoring in the 7th minute to take Leeds ahead. Newcastle would fight back with two penalties from Callum Wilson (31′ & 69′). Rasmus Kristensen equalised in the 79th minute to earn Leeds a point. Newcastle will be anxious to keep earning points in order to secure top 4 and keep the chasing pack away.
Southampton 0 – 2 Fulham
Southampton were the first team to be relegated from the Premier League this season after a 2-0 defeat to Fulham. Carlos Vinicius Put The Cottagers ahead in the 48th minute. Aleksandar Mitrovic would seal Southampton’s fate in the 72nd minute to give Fulham all 3 points and into a comfortable 10th position in the league.
Chelsea 2 – 2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest took a step further away from relegation with a point away to Chelsea. Taiwo Awoniyi gave Forest the lead in the 13th minute before Reheem Sterling would score twice (51′ & 58′) to put Chelsea into the lead. Awoniyi would equalise in the 62nd minute to take Forest 3 points ahead of the drop zone.
Aston Villa 2 – 1 Tottenham Hotspur
Villa continued their fantastic form with a win against Spurs. Jacob Ramsey put The Villains ahead on the 8th minute with Douglas Luiz adding to their lead in the 72nd minute. Harry Kane would pull a goal back through the penalty spot in the 90th minute but it wouldn’t be enough to earn any points. Villa are now firmly in contention for a sport in a European competition next season. The find themselves in 8th position on the same points as Spurs.
Manchester United 2 – 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
United earned 3 points towards their top 4 hopes against a struggling Wolves side on Saturday. Anthony Martial gave The Red Devils the lead on the 32nd minute before Alejandro Garnacho sealed the victory in the 94th minute. United are now 4 points ahead of Liverpool in 4th spot.
Crystal Palace 2 – 0 Bournemouth
Eberechi Eze continued his fantastic form with 2 goals in the 39th and 58th minutes to earn Palace the 3 points against Bournemouth. Palace are in a comfortable 12th position with Bournemouth in 14th but looking like they will be in the Premier League next season.
Everton 0 – 3 Manchester City
City continued their incredible form at the weekend with a 3-0 victory of relegation threatened Everton. Ilkay Gundogan gave City the lead in the 37th minute before Erling Haaland added to his enormous goals tally for the season in the 39th. Gundogan would go on to score again in the 51st minute to seal the 3 points and can now seal the Premier League title when they play Chelsea on Sunday 21st May. Everton are currently just 1 point ahead of the relegation zone.
Brentford 2 – 0 West Ham United
Brentford took the 3 points against West Ham to move into the top half of the Premier League. Goals from Bryan Mbeumo (20′) & Yoane Wissa (43′) sealed the victory for The Bees. West Ham are 6 points ahead of the drop zone with 2 to play, only a catastrophic end to the season would see them relegated from this position.
Arsenal 0 – 3 Brighton
Arsenal’s title change all but ended at the hands of an in-form Brighton side that are pushing for a place in Europe next season. Goals from Julio Enciso (51′), Denis Undav (86′) & Pervis Estupinan (96′) would earn the points. They find themselves in 6th position with a game in hand on Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United, a top 4 place could still be on the cards but qualifying for the Europa League looks like a dead certainty. Arsenal look like they will finish in 2nd place after pushing City as far as they could in what has been a brilliant season for them.
