Coming up in May

There are quite a few big events happening in May, from the coronation of the new King to the end of the Premier League season. Three big races taking place in the F1 as well when they travel to brand new Miami circuit, Imola in Italy and the famous Monaco Grand Prix. There is always something for anybody to enjoy, let’s take a look at what’s coming up in May.

The King’s Coronation

The coronation of King Charles will take place on Saturday 6th May at Westminster Abbey. There will be a procession from Buckingham Palace known as ‘The King’s Procession’. The King and the Queen Consort will then return to Buckingham Palace to appear on the balcony with members of the Royal Family.Three big races are coming up in May including the brand new Miami circuit and one of the staple races of the season, the Monaco Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen currently leads the standings with 69 points ahead of Sergio Perez on 54 points and Fernando Alonso in 3rd on 45 points. Red Bull are running away with the constructor’s championship on 123 points compared to 2nd place Aston Martin on 65 points and Mercedes on 56.

USA Grand Prix
5th-7th May
Miami

Miami is up next making it’s debut appearance in F1. The 11th different venue that the US has seen, the Miami International Autodrome will stage the brand new race in 2023.

Italian Grand Prix
19th-21st May
Imola

The Italian Grand Prix is the second race to take place in May, located at Imola. Max Vertsappen has won the last 2 races here in 2022 and 2021 with Lewis Hamilton winning in 2020.

Monaco Grand Prix
26th-28th May
Monaco

The final race in May is the famous Monaco circuit. Sergio Perez won this race in 2022 for Red Bull and Max Verstappen in 2021.

Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest will officially start on Tuesday 9th May with semi-final 1 and semi-final 2 taking place on Thursday 11th May before the Grand Final on Saturday 13 May. King Charles was in Liverpool on Thursday to unveil the Eurovision stage at the M&S Bank Arena alongside The Queen Consort.

Liverpool is also hosting other Eurovision events around the city including Eurovision Village, EuroClub and EUROfansCLUB to welcome all the visitors from around the globe. There will also be live screenings of the event around the city for those that couldn’t get a ticket to the big event.

Premier League Ends

Sunday 28th May sees the 22/23 Premier League Season come to a close. We’ll finally know who the Champions are out of Manchester City or Arsenal, where the European places are heading to and who has unfortunately been relegated to the Championship. We already know that Burnley and Sheffield United will be playing in the Premier League next season, but we might have to wait until the final day to see which teams they’ll be replacing. The fixtures that are taking place on the final day are:
