History of Everton FC
Founded in 1878, Everton Football Club is one of the oldest and most storied football clubs in England. Originally playing at Anfield before moving to Goodison Park in 1892, Everton has a rich heritage with nine league titles, five FA Cups, and a European Cup Winners’ Cup among its honours.
Everton quickly established themselves as a founding member of the Football League and have been a mainstay of top-flight football for most of their history. The club is renowned for its passionate fanbase, community focus, and iconic players such as Dixie Dean, Alan Ball, and more recently, Wayne Rooney.
After more than 130 years at Goodison Park, the new stadium marks a new chapter for the club – one aimed at securing Everton’s future success on and off the pitch while respecting the legacy of their historic home.
Legends
Everton boasts a rich tapestry of legendary players who have graced the blue shirt. Dixie Dean remains one of the most iconic figures in football history, holding the record for most league goals in a single season (60 in 1927-28). Other notable legends include Alan Ball, Neville Southall, and more recent heroes like Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines, who have inspired generations of supporters.
