Just Announced: Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk

One of the biggest and most exciting boxing events this year has just been announced! The Heavyweight Champion of the World, Anthony Joshua OBE, will put his IBF, WBA, WBO, and IBO World Titles on the line against Oleksandr Usyk. The fight will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 25th September.

Anthony Joshua, alias AJ, is 31 years old. He enters this fight with a record of 25 bouts, 24 wins, and 22 by way of KOs, with only one defeat. He currently holds the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO World Heavyweight Titles.

Ukrainian star Oleksandr Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) moved up to the Heavyweight division after dominating at Cruiserweight. He ended his incredible run at 200lbs as the Undisputed Champion with victories over Marco Huck, Mairis Breidis, Murat Gassiev, and Tony Bellew — all in his opponents’ backyards.

The 2012 Olympic Gold medallist began his Heavyweight campaign by stopping Chazz Witherspoon in seven rounds at the Wintrust Arena, Chicago, in October 2019. He continued his bid to become a two-weight World Champion by outpointing Derek Chisora over 12 rounds at The SSE Arena, Wembley, last October.

Joshua said: “The date is set and we are fully locked in. September 25, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. I put it all on the line again. It’s time to defend my crown. We are two Olympic Gold medalists who have fought our way to the top. We never avoided challenges.

“The venue is exceptional. The atmosphere will be electric. I’m honoured to be the first to fight in such an awe-inspiring venue. The stage is set. I am ready to handle business.”
