FA Cup 4th Round Results
Liverpool 5-2 Norwich City
In the first game since Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, Liverpool were taking on a Norwich side currently 9th in the Championship. Klopp was keen to make sure that the team and fans remained focused on the results ahead, rather than saying goodbye so soon before his departure. And Klopp got his wish! Curtis Jones opened the scoring in the 16th minute, shortly before Norwich drew level in the 22nd minute through Ben Gibson. Liverpool would then take full control of the game, scoring 5 goals and guaranteeing a place in the 5th round.
Bournemouth 5-0 Swansea
Premier League Bournemouth welcomed Championship side Swansea City to the Vitality Stadium in a game that seemed closer than the final scoreline suggested. Lloyd Kelly opened the scoring for Bournemouth who would eventually go on to win 5-0.
Ipswich Town 1-2 Maidstone United
The lowest-ranked club still left in the FA Cup had a big task on their hands. National League South side Maidstone United travelled Portman Road to face an Ipswich side that look like achieving promotion to the Premier League next season. Maidstone scored the first goal of the game in the 43rd minute through Lamar Reynolds. Ipswich were able to hit back with an equaliser in the 56th minute but Maidstone weren’t giving up and took the lead again in the 66th minute. Having only had 2 shots all game, Maidstone are through to the 5th round!
Newport Country 2-4 Manchester United
Manchester United travelled to Wales in the 4th Round of the FA Cup to face League Two side Newport Country. It seemed like it would be a standard affair for United as they took the lead through Bruno Fernandes in the 7th minute and extended the lead in the 13th minute with a goal from Kobbie Mainoo. Newport County weren’t ready to lie down and fought back to 2-2! The United side would prove to be too much for the Welsh side as they went on to win 4-2 and secure their place in the 5th Round.
