Tottenham manager leaves after 16 months in charge
Antonio Conte has left Spurs by mutual consent after 16 months in charge of the club. Conte had criticised the Tottenham players, calling them ‘selfish’ after their draw with Southampton. Although in 4th place in the Premier League, Spurs are out of all cup competitions and will have a tough fight to stay in the Champions League places. Cristian Stellini with become head coach for the remainder of the season with Ryan Mason as his assistant.
Sheffield United were the team to knock them out of the FA Cup with a lackluster performance against AC Milan in the Champions League. These results have left Spurs looking for their fourth manager in just 4 years since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019. All eyes will be on Spurs to see who they appoint and whether Harry Kane will stay to aid the new manager.
There are some big name managers that will be looking for a club this summer. Julian Nagelsmann appears to be at the front of the pack having just been sacked by Bayern Munich. Ryan Mason who had a successful time as interim manager in 2021 is another option. A return for Mauricio Pochettino could also be on the cards after Tottenham fans were heard chanting his name after their Champions League exit. Other big names include Ange Postecoglu who is the current manager of Celtic, while Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane who are currently unemployed have also been mentioned.
