Weekend Football Results
Yet another incredible weekend of Premier League football has taken place with lots of goals at the bottom and top of the table. Let’s take a look at all the action:
Everton 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Everton rescued a point against Tottenham in the early kick-off on Saturday. Ex-Toffee Richarlison netted twice with two incredible goals and it looked like it would be defeat for Everton who currently sit in 18th position. But Jarrad Branthwaite was there to rescue a point for Everton in the 94th minute. Everton are 1 point off safety with Spurs sitting in 5th just 2 points behind Aston Villa.
Brighton 4-1 Crystal Palace
Pressure is building on Palace boss Roy Hodgson as Brighton dominated their rivals to win 4-1 at the AMEX Stadium. Goals from Dunk, Hinshelwood, Buonanotte and Joao Pedro saw Brighton rise to 7th in the Premier League and leave The Eagles in 14th place, just 5 points off the relegation zone.
Burnley 2-2 Fulham
19th place Burnley took on a Fulham side that have not won away in the Premier League in 11. Fulham took the lead through Joao Palhinha in the 17th minute before Muniz Carvalho doubled the lead. Burnley rescued a point with a brace from Fofana, scoring in the 71st minute and late on to equalise in the 91st minute.
Newcastle United 4-4 Luton Town
In what most people would say was the game of the weekend, relegation battlers Luton travelled to St James’ Park looking to pull away from the relegation zone. Luton found themselves 4-2 up in the 62nd minute after goals from Osho, Barkley, Morris and Adebayo but Newcastle weren’t going to lie down without a fight and were able to rescue a point from an incredible match.
Sheffield United 0-5 Aston Villa
Villa ended the weekend in the top four after winning 5-0 away to Sheffield United who are now 10 points adrift at the bottom of the league. Goals from McGinn, Watkins, Bailey, Tielemans and Moreno saw Villa dominate at Bramall Lane.
Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Forest travelled to the Vitality Stadium in 17th position, just 1 point off the dreaded relegation zone and things were looking dire after just 5 minutes when Justin Kluivert put The Cherries ahead. Hudson-Odoi were able to rescue a point for Forest in the 45th minute, moving his team to 16th place.
Chelsea 2-4 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Cole Palmer gave Chelsea the lead in the 19th minute at Stamford Bridge but it would only take 3 minutes before Wolves equalised through Matheus Cunha. That same player would go on to score a hat-trick, eventually helping Wolves to win the game 4-2 and go ahead of Chelsea in the league. They now sit in 10th position, just 1 point ahead of The Blues in 11th.
Manchester United 3-0 West Ham United
Manchester United jumped into 6th place in the league with a 3-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford. Hojlund put The Red Devils ahead in the 23rd minute before two goals from Garnacho saw United take all 3 points. West Ham dropped to 7th place just two points off Manchester United.
Arsenal 3-1 Liverpool
A game that could have seen Liverpool stretch their lead at the top to 8 points, instead put Arsenal right back in the mix for the title. Saka put Arsenal ahead in the 14th minute before an own goal from Gabriel let Liverpool back into the game without having a shot on target. It would take a huge mistake from Van Dijk and Alisson to give Arsenal the lead. Arsenal would eventually go on to win 3-1 and move to just 2 points behind The Reds.
