Midweek Premier League Results

It seems like there is always a Premier League match on this season, especially because of the mid season break for the World Cup. This week has been no different with a whole host of matches taking place, with huge ramifications for the league table. Let’s take a look at all of the Premier League results from the midweek matches.

Everton took a step closer to safety with a draw against top four chasing Spurs on Monday night. Spurs took the lead through a penalty after Abdoulaye Doucoure saw red for pushing Kane in the face. In the 88th minute though, it was Lucas Moura who was dismissed for a high tackle on Michael Keane. Keane would eventually go on to score the equaliser, which any striker would have been proud of.

Leeds United 2 – 1 Nottingham Forest

Leeds United went behind early at home to a goal from Orel Mangala in the 12th minute. They would come back from one down to lead in the first half through goals from Jack Harrison (20′) and Luis Sinisterra (45+1′).

Bournemouth 0 – 2 Brighton

Brighton’s Evan Ferguson continued to show why he is one of the most sought after young players around with a goal in the 28th minute. Julio Enciso put the game beyond Bournemouth in the 91st minute to keep Brighton’s European hopes alive.

Leicester 1 – 2 Aston Villa

Another team that will have their eyes on Europe is Aston Villa. They took the lead through Ollie Watkins (24′) before Harvey Barnes equalised in the 35th minute. It would take until the 87th minute for Villa to take the lead through a goal by Bertrand Traore against a 10 man Leicester after the sending off of Kiernan Dewsbury-hall.

Chelsea 0 – 0 Liverpool

In a game that saw lots of missed chances, especially for Chelsea, the match would eventually end goalless. Fabinho had a good chance before half time which was cleared by Wesley Fofana and Reece James and Kai Havertz had goals disallowed, the first for offside and the latter for a handball.

West Ham 1 – 5 Newcastle United

Newcastle continue their push for the top 4 in what was an emphatic win against The Irons away from home. Callum Wilson scoring in the 6th and 46th minute, Joelinton also netting twice in the 13th and 90th minute, with Alexander Isak scoring in the 82nd. Kurt Zouma gave West Ham some hope in the 40th minute but it wouldn’t be enough to stop United taking all 3 points.

Manchester United 1 – 0 Brentford

Manchester United went back into 4th spot with a win against Brentford. Marcus Rashford who has been in incredible form this season scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute.
