3rd Round FA Cup Results!
The 3rd round of the FA Cup is where the top teams enter the competition, with teams from all over the country competing for glory in the world’s oldest cup competition. It’s an exciting time for fans of all teams, hopeful of a giant-killing weekend or a routine victory for the Premier League sides. Let’s take a look at the biggest results of the round.
Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool
The penultimate tie of the round saw two teams at the very top of the Premier League go head-to-head for the right to play in the 4th round. Liverpool travelled to the Emirates to take on an Arsenal side that took a point at Anfield in the Premier League just before Christmas. Arsenal will feel they should have put the game to bed in the first half after creating a lot of great chances. The first goal would come for Liverpool however in the 80th minute, with an own goal from Jakub Kiwior. Liverpool would seal the win in the 95th minute with a counter-attack goal from Colombian Luis Diaz.
Chelsea 4-0 Preston
Chelsea welcomed Championship side Preston North End to Stamford Bridge on Saturday. In a game that Chelsea dominated, they would eventually win the game easily after being held to a goalless draw at the half-time break. Goals from Armando Broja (58′), Thiago Silva (66′), Raheem Sterling (69′) and Enzo Fernandez (85′) saw Chelsea enter the 4th round without any problems.
Tottenham 1-0 Burnley
Another all Premier League time, this time between Spurs and Burnley. Burnley had an incredible chance at the end of the game to equalise after Pedro Porror had put Spurs ahead in the 78th minute but were unable to score and force a replay.
Peterborough 0-3 Leeds United
In a game that saw the goal of the round, League One Peterborough welcomed Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United to the ABAX Stadium. Leeds took the lead through Ethan Ampadu in the 34th Minute and the same player would go on to seal the tie in the 90th minute after an incredible volley from Leeds striker Patrick Bamford.
